The Pastor Founder meticulously documented the Church's historical background in the Church Constitution. He provided a detailed account of how the Church came into existence, including the history of its tents and doctrinal practices. Additionally, he outlined the functions of the Church’s major organs. This Church Constitution is a comprehensive document that truly defines the essence of the CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST.
Recently, VSE Tosho Oshoffa, one of the Pastor’s children who also holds a prominent position has the Shepherd of CCC International Headquarters in Ketu, Lagos State granted an interview about the Church and his father. It is absolutely thrilling to see that VSE Tosho Oshoffa has the right to openly discuss about his parents, regardless of his position within the Church. As a member and shepherd in the fold, he has the freedom to share the Church’s history within or outside the fold.
However, it is crucial for us to recognize the immense effectiveness of “REV SBJ OSHOFFA” as an individual before the assignment given to him and as the Pastor Founder after 1947. The status of this remarkable figure has undergone significant changes since 1947 till present day. The narrative surrounding his personality completely transformed when he received his divine assignment in 1947. From that moment on, he ceased to belong solely to the family of “OSHOFfA” and became a figure of global significance.
Unfortunately, the oral history presented by VSE Tosho Oshoffa lacks the necessary foundation of facts and evidence. This deficiency has the potential to plunge the Church into a state of confusion regarding its worship practices. However, we can find solace in the autobiography book released by one of Pastor Founder daughter, Prophetess Edith Oshoffa, which serves as a reliable reference point for the Church’s evolution. It is important to note that VSE Tosho Oshoffa’s oral history contradicts the documented accounts of her elder sister.
In a recent video circulating on social media platforms, VSE Tosho Oshoffa made a statement regarding the freedom of Celestial Church members to consume Kolanut, which they can personally purchase. This statement sparked a lively discussion among members, questioning whether or not they truly possess this liberty.
Let us now delve into the profound words of Pa SBJ Oshoffa when God appeared to him at Makoko in 1954. Section 59 of the Church Constitution recounts this extraordinary encounter. The Lord appeared as a blind man, walking towards the Church around 9:00 a.m. His first request was for tobacco, to which Pa SBJ Oshoffa’s wife, CHRISTINE, replied that she had none. He then asked for cigarettes, receiving the same response. Finally, He asked for kolanuts, and CHRISTINE, in her anger, firmly stated that she should be left alone, especially since these three items were forbidden to Celestians.
Now, let’s dive into the thrilling details of this situation! Pa SBJ Oshoffa’s bold statement has sent shockwaves through the Church challenging the previously given consent by VSE Tosho Oshoffa regarding the consumption of Kolanut. Section 94 (iii) further adds fuel to the fire by condemning the act of eating Kolanut altogether. But wait, there’s more! VSE Tosho Oshoffa, in a surprising twist, claims that the Church only holds one single night vigil, known as the New Moon Service.
However, let’s not forget the origins of this controversy. Section 88 of the Church Constitution initially mentioned the New Moon Service, but it never imposed any restrictions on parishes organizing their own night vigils. Astonishingly, the Church Constitution does not sanction any parish from hosting night vigils. This revelation adds a whole new layer of intrigue to the situation.
The continuous presentation of oral history about the Church and Its Pastor by VSE Tosho Oshoffa, without any factual documents or proper references will continue to creates an atmosphere of confusion and deception within the Church which can be likened to the phrase ‘PAPA SI PA.’ But here’s where things get really exciting! VSE Tosho Oshoffa has been continuously sharing oral history about the Church and its Pastor without proper documentation.
