God places great emphasis on our physical health, using spiritual health as a means of communication. One profound truth in life is that our relationship with God plays a crucial role in ensuring our overall well-being, encompassing physical, mental, and social health.
PHYSICAL HEALTH
Preventive Care
Taking proactive measures to prevent diseases from afflicting and incapacitating us is not only easier and cheaper but also less painful than undergoing medical treatments or surgeries. In fact, it is God’s desire for us to live in good health. Some of the physical therapy methods we employ include:
Self-examination
It is essential to be familiar with our bodies – the size, contours, skin and hair. Regularly examining ourselves in front of a mirror allows us to detect any lumps, skin discoloration or other changes. Additionally, we must pay attention to the color of our urine and stools, promptly reporting any significant changes.
Exercise and weight control
Leading a sedentary lifestyle, spending long hours standing to preaching is detrimental to our health. Engaging in regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, is an excellent form of exercise, particularly for weight loss. As we age, it becomes crucial to avoid gaining excess weight.
MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health encompasses two primary categories: Neurosis and Psychosis.
Neurosis represents a milder form of mental illness characterized by excessive fear, abnormal levels of worry, isolation and unwarranted distrust, even towards those who should be trusted. Additionally, attention-seeking behaviors, such as provocative dressing, which some may label as exhibitionism, are often misunderstood as fashion choices.
On the other hand, Psychosis denotes a more severe mental illness that induces hallucinations, particularly of imaginary enemies, and prompts individuals to engage in conversations with invisible entities. This condition can lead to violent behavior and even compel individuals to run into the streets. Certain drugs, like cocaine and LSD, can produce similar effects, as can encounters with malevolent spirits.
SOCIAL HEALTH
Social health warrants consideration as it significantly impacts both physical and mental well-being.
Our social lives encompass our societal standing, achievements in personal endeavors, and interpersonal relationships with family, friends, and colleagues. Prolonged feelings of failure can lead to high blood pressure, suicidal ideation, or even severe mental illness. Moreover, individuals who identify as Christians but maintain a worldly social lifestyle, including smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, expose themselves to grave diseases such as lung and liver cancer, liver cirrhosis, as well as cardiovascular conditions caused by these toxins.
Engaging in promiscuous behavior also increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, and the dreaded HIV/AIDS. Furthermore, it can lead to cervical cancer, unwanted pregnancies, and the associated dangers they entail.
