The Amissa Service held in honor of Late Rev Suru Maforikan Pastor of CCC Worldwide attracted senior clergies within the fold. This special service was dedicated to pray for the departed soul as it has been seven years since he joined the saints.
The service took place at CCC Halleluyah Meje Parish, located behind Nigeria Breweries in Ibadan. In attendance were the wives, children and spiritual offspring of Late Rev Suru Maforikan. They all gathered to pay their respects and honor the memory of Late Pastor Prophet, whom God used in Celestial Church of Christ.
One of the Late Rev Suru Maforikan’s close associates was Most Superior Evangelist JD Nunayon. Throughout their lives, they shared a brotherhood relationship. It is worth noting that in the early 1960s, M/S/E Nunayon and Late Rev Suru Maforikan visited the Pastor Founder, Rev SBJ Oshoffa. The visitation was spiritually significant as the Pastor Founder immediately instructed M/S/E Nunayon to sew a Prophet garment.
Another deep understanding between the Rev Suru Maforikan and M/S/E Nunayon can be traced back to 1961. During this time, Rev Suru Maforikan traveled to Ibadan at the invitation of M/S/E Nunayon. It was during the visit that they encountered Mrs. Agbaje whose three-year-old daughter Aina had been unable to walk since birth. God instructed Rev Suru Maforikan to pray over a bottle of water, which was then used to bathe the child for three days. Miraculously, she began to walk.
In 1973, God instructed Rev Suru Maforikan to deliver a prophetic message to M/S/E Nunayon regarding the construction of a Parish. During the Amissa Service, M/S/E Nunayon addressed the congregation and prayed for the departed soul, urging everyone to learn from the leadership instinct of his late brother.
It was a day graced by the presence of Rev Pastor Rev Pascal Ikudoro Togbe who had closely collaborated with Rev Suru Maforikan during his lifetime. Rev Pastor Pascal Ikudoro Togbe led the procession for the incense burner in honor of his boss.
During an acknowledgment message delivered by A/V/S/E John Maforikan, the first child of the late Rev Suru Maforikan he expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity God had given his father to serve the Church. He also sincerely appreciated the love and support from senior clergies who stood by the family after seven years since his father’s departure.
