We all understand how insurgency, kidnapping, ethics killings, religious conflict, communal clashed and all forms of insecurities revenge the North East part of Nigeria since 2009 till date.
Most Churches in the North East have closed service, including Celestial Church of Christ. We have witnessed more of our Parishes being burned down by angry Islamic extremists, yet there was no hope for such Parishes to raise again.
Some other denominations like Redeemed Christian Church of God, Catholic and others were attacked and destroyed, yet they are standing again against all persecution. Shamefully, any Celestial Church of Christ destroyed cannot come back to service again.
Missionary work is the major reason the Pastor Founder S.B.J Oshoffa traveled from Port Norvo to Makoko and many other cities where the Church grow and expand. Today, our leaders only Missionary journey is for Anointment and marking attendance at harvest anniversaries.
Most Parishes destroyed in the North never received any support from the Church or even a visit to check on the parishioners and their Shepherds.
Today, the CCC Northern Youths under the leadership of Bro. Ademola Olushola and Bro. Olatunbosun Victor are changing the narratives, they are not complaining, as well not waiting for no elders before they embark on a Missionary journey to check on the welfare of Shepherds and Parishioners of the few Celestial Church of Christ Parishes in the North East and North West.
The Shepherds were expecting to see MPIC members, BOT, Regional leaders, Pastoral Representatives and committees, rather who they meet with are the young people who priorities them above anointment and special ranks and titles.
In the book of Acts 18:22; that was the first time Paul goes to Jerusalem after the Council. It’s also the first chance Paul had to tell Jerusalem about Corinth. While it’s possible Jerusalem already knew about Corinth, it’s still likely Paul would have shared about his Greek mission while there. And if Paul’s attitude remained the same as Galatians 2:2 (to make sure he wasn’t running in vain) – then Paul very well might have encouraged or even invited Peter to go “check it out”. Paul and Peter among other Apostles travel thousands of miles visiting churches both in Antioch, Corinth, Greek etc, but how many have our leadership visited if not to go and extort them? The CCC Northern Youths traveled over 870km for 11 hours 37 mins non stop except to refuel and unirate just to check on Parishes in Borno State.
Report on C.C.C. Parishes Maiduguri, Borno state
Formerly, there were 7 Parishes in this state before 2011, but we are left with only two Parishes now.
The 1st Parish is CCC Parish 1 at Jerusalem Wulari under Diocese has NO SHEPHERD till date. The Church Patron is the one acting as the Shepherd there, as no Seminary graduate or Shepherd is ready to be posted there.
The 2nd Parish visited was CCC Central Parish 4 at Baga Road is under the Ketu. They have a Shepherd but members come to church mostly on Sundays only as security is a major concern and the religious intolerance is another factor.
Both parishes came together for 2 days revival during the visit of the CCC Northern Youths Mission. They were very hospitable and received the youth with joy of heart and love just as one would received an angels of the Lord.
The Parishes are also hosting Internally displays people, women and Children mostly who have no place to go due to insurgency.
