The Supreme Court’s year 2000 judgment, as well as the Federal High Court’s Ilaro judgment in 2015 have once again overshadowed the authority of the Church in the court of public opinion. CCC Land of Goshen, Lagos has taken a firm stance against the majority view of Celestial members to proceed with her plans to allow secular musicians to perform.
The contentious debate surrounding the invitation of secular musicians to perform at the Musical Night of CCC Land of Goshen Cathedral, Lagos has taken a new turn with the Task Force Committee under the supervision of V/S/E Adjovi conducting an investigation visit to the Parish on December 6th, 2023. The atmosphere was charged with debate as the Patron of the Parish defended the controversial decision to invite secular musicians to their Musical Night. He emphasized the principle of winning souls for Christ through secular performances.
The patron stated that the Gospel Juju Musician whom he had visited had not made any positive impact on the Parish. While he condemned the behavior and attitude of some Gospel musicians, he expressed the vision of establishing a transparent framework to remove miscreants from the streets of Lagos and convert them for the purpose of Jesus Christ.
He made it clear that his Parish does not operate under the Ketu Faction. He also mentioned the reduced financial commitment to the Ketu Faction, such as the Oshoffa Cup Competition, payment of returns to Ketu, response to the CCC Ketu International Harvest and support for the Basilica at Imeko. Furthermore, he clarified that his phone conversation with VSE Tosho Oshoffa was not about canceling the Musical Night. Instead VSE Tosho Oshoffa pleaded with him to remove Pasuma and Portable image from the Online Graphic.
In response, VSE Adjovi Chairman of the Taskforce Committee acknowledged the progress made by his team in addressing the matter. However, he strongly advocated for the cancellation of the show. Despite his efforts, the Patron remained firm in his belief that inviting secular musicians to perform at their concerts enhances the spiritual well-being of their worshippers. The Parton said It’s worth noting that a majority of these worshippers are Muslim individuals who became active members after attending concerts where secular musicians performed.
VSE Adjovi further elaborated that the Pastor himself would personally meet with the Patron to continue the discussion and reach a conclusive resolution. The actions of CCC Land of Goshen, Lagos have created a situation where the Church lacks proper organization and we must acknowledge the failure within the Church’s authority.
Can an authority without the approval of a government license for trademark and logo order the closure of a Parish? This sudden deadlock at CCC Land of Goshen, Lagos raises fundamental questions for the Church’s authority.
Can an authority without the approval of the government’s Corporate Affairs Commission initiate legal proceedings against a Parish that violates the provisions of the Church’s laws?
Dabiri claims to have made a payment to Ketu, despite the fact that he actually belongs to Ajahsa. This indicates that Ketu does not have a comprehensive list of parishes under its jurisdiction, allowing them to collect money from any parish regardless of their affiliation.
