The Calabar saga has entered a new phase following a comprehensive explanation provided by one of the prominent shepherd working in the South South region of Nigeria. This elucidation sheds light on the escalating unrest at CCC Calabar Parish 2, based on the shepherd’s frequent conversations with the relevant church authorities.
Contrary to our previous report, VSE Obinyan clarified that while the Parish was indeed locked, it remained so for less than five hours before reopening. He went on to explain that one of the rejected shepherd, AVSE Omiunu Solomon faced significant opposition from certain individuals within the Parish, resulting in his rejection.
Furthermore, the unrest in the Parish was exacerbated by the actions of Oluso Saturday who was transferred from CCC Kano 2 to CCC Calabar Parish 2 in Cross River some years back. Oluso Saturday’s refusal to vacate the premises within the designated timeframe contributed to the turmoil. VSE Obinyan also noted the presence of unruly individuals who had taken control of the Parish premises openly smoking marijuana without any regard for the consequences.
He then stated that the new shepherd arrived at Cross River in the early hours of December 31, 2023. However, he only managed to find his way to CCC Calabar Parish 2 when the service was nearly finished. At that moment, the Patron displayed his authoritarian style by rejecting the new shepherd, claiming that the letter he carried was not from the Pastor’s Office. However, it was later confirmed that the letter was indeed authentic.
This rejection led to a confrontation, which compelled the traditional leaders in the community to order the immediate closure of the Parish in order to maintain law and order. VSE Obinyan also mentioned that the meeting between the Parish and the community later continued in the community hall.
During this meeting, the Patron agreed to work towards restoring the Parish to its original position within the next 3 months. Additionally, VSE Tosho Oshoffa addressed the large congregation in the community hall, further facilitating the resolution. As a result, the traditional leaders agreed to reopen the Parish for continuous service, and the 31st Cross Over service was successfully held in the Parish.
