The appointment and anointing of the 11 Assistant Most Superior Evangelists by Pastor Rev. EMF Oshoffa on the 11th May 2024, have further delayed our progress towards genuine reconciliation that some Elders are diligently working towards. This moment has exposed the Church to a critical juncture, questioning whether the Pastor truly desires peace and unity within the Ketu faction, as he envisioned when he assumed his duties in year 2002.
It is evident that those who advised the Pastor on the selection of senior clergy for the rank of AMSE failed to consider the consequences of omitting qualified individuals from the position. This oversight will cause division within the administration of Rev. EMF Oshoffa, rather than aligning with the Pastor’s vision of a unified Church that everyone can be proud of.
Instead of moving past the tensions of year 2021 when a significant split occurred within the Church, certain individuals are actively working to perpetuate the crisis by offering negative advice to the Pastor in an attempt to maintain the division. This perspective has sparked a great deal of controversy, with some questioning whether the Pastor was given wrongful advice or if they are benefiting from the Church’s disunity.
While some members believe that the Pastor acted within the provisions of the Church Constitution in their appointments and approvals, others see these actions as a deliberate effort to exacerbate the existing disunity through negative advice. The current leadership under Rev. EMF Oshoffa stands firm in their belief that the Pastor holds the ultimate authority to make decisions. The lingering question remains: has the Pastor's decisions since March 2021, which were influenced by certain members, truly brought unity to the Church or only deepened the division?
When the Pastor’s Office promotes junior clergy members over their senior counterparts without valid justification, it raises doubts about the sincerity of their intentions to restore peace within Celestial Church of Christ.
